Week 4(16-10-2017)

At the most basic, a story is from beginning,middle and the end. There are another arranges: middle, the end and beginning, the end, middle and beginning. It can engage the audience’s emotion and make them went to know what happen is the next shoot and will be occur. The theme of the documentary is important which is the basic thing and it appears in the documentary repeatedly.    Everyone need to understand the theme even audience, director or photograph. For instance, photograph can know how and what angle are the prefer match of the screen. Characters are important ‘material’ of the film, but documentaries are not. Since most of the documentary prefer to use the real people of the event. Also, music and sound effect are important. Music and sound effect are directly give the emotion to audience.For example, when people listen some sound effect, people can know that this section are the nervous screen. Rule of third are separate to three sections of the screen. And the main character can keep in the eyeliner in the screen. Additional, people can stand int he same side who have the same viewpoint, and people have different view of the theme of documentary can stand in the opposite side. It can give the messages to the audience that they are different views. Natural transition is mean from one shoot to another shoot. Deep to black and deep to white are common since not all the effect are suitable for the documentary. The other is that zoom in the camera into one things in the location or color and than zoom out the camera in other location.That can be a good choice of effect of transition. Furthermore, we filmed some shoot again and finished re-edited the 1 minute video this week.

Week 3(09-10-2017)

 

There are some argument of the documentaries, fact and fiction, reality and trust. The documentaries are reality, but it is depend on the people are they trust. This week we presented our individual Creative Project proposal to class. And our tutor just gave us some suggestions about our proposal and what we need to consider more of our video. We chose the best idea in our group. After that, we researched the microphones. We discussed what different between shotgun microphones and clip microphone. Also, which environment we chose to use and which position we put  when we interview. In the class, we had an imitation interview to learn how were the best angle and position we put the microphone and the reporter sit in.Tie Clip Microphone is to clip on the clothes and hide inside which using in some interview that they don’t need to hold a microphone for a long time. People use rifle microphone in the outdoor location, and there are some of the method to  hold like held hold, which people hold it in higher, under-arm, people hold it in the under-arm and most of the time using in the dream and the last one is using an extending equipment and hoof in the ground.

 

In this week, we finished to film the important shoot,interview. After the interview, we went out to film some shoot to add in the video which match for what the interviewee said, such as we filmed the shoot outside the Bramber House. And I tried to edited in the Silverstone by Premium, but I cannot. It had some problem to exploded the video in. I asked the assistant to help to but he still cannot, and he told me that maybe there have some problem of the account. After that, I tried to use the account of our group member but it still cannot. So I think the problem is in the video, I change the method of the video and tried it again.It still cannot. So I just use the iMovie to edit.

Developing Your Story Idea

 

Week 2(02-10-2017)

 

In this week, we explored the camera Sony PXW-X70. First we learned how to open the tripod by ourselves without teaching. And this is the best way to let us know how to use and open it. After opened it we need to put the camera in the tripod. Second, we started to research the camera. When we started  to film, we need to check five steps first(Focus, Zoom, White balance, Gain and Iris). Since the color of the object will be different under the lighting. The color of the picture and screen will restored to the original color mode when using the white balance under the lighting. Gain is to adjust the brightness and darkness of the color in the screen. Iris is to control the light through the lens.  Also, we tried to use different things to see and compare what different after we check these five steps. In each step, we discussed what different and advantages to use that function. I think using tripod is the most important in filming. Since most of the people do not use tripod to film, the video are very shape and not clear. That make the quality of the video become worst. Learn how to use tripod is the most important step. When we need to film by ourself and no one can help, tripod is the only ‘partner’. It helps us to hold the camera, make the prefect angle, and the best quality.

 

Newspaper and magazines are the good material for us to develop our story ideas. Both of them can demonstrate the real life of the people, especially the local papers. Local papers reflect different aspect in the flesh, such as local economy, local conditions and local idiosyncrasies. Social science are working from a large and carefully considered knowledge base, so they can tell us the feelings and instincts.In the normal, people always carry a notebook or a computer to write down and keep the memories in their own journal. The story are factual that make the audience can more throw themselves in to the film.
